What it does

The notice board with a self-destruct timer

Every venue has carried an outdated notice: the Easter hours in May, the long-finished refurb apology. The failure is never publishing the message; it is remembering to take it down. This widget makes removal a property of the message itself.

  • Inline notices, site-wide banners, or a dismissible popup
  • Start and end times, so festive notices end themselves
  • Tones for information, warning and celebration
  • An optional link through to the details
  • Dismissible by guests, and it stays dismissed
  • Popups are frequency-capped, never nagging on every page view
  • Paste once in the site template; it appears site-wide
  • Same two-line embed as every other Foldout widget

FAQ

Announcement banner questions

How do I add an announcement banner to my website?

Paste Foldout's two-line embed into your site's global template, header or footer area, once. Every message you publish from the dashboard then appears site-wide, styled as an inline notice, a banner or a popup, whichever you chose for it.

Can I schedule a notice in advance?

Yes, and that is the point. Give the message a start and an end: the Hogmanay hours notice begins on the 27th and is gone on the 2nd without anyone remembering to remove it. Unscheduled notices run until you take them down.

What kinds of messages is it for?

Kitchen closures, festive hours, a new menu launch, a refurb week, last tables before Christmas. Anything a guest should see before they travel or book, published without touching the website.

Are the popups intrusive?

Deliberately not. One message at a time, always dismissible, frequency-capped so a guest is not nagged on every page, and respectful of reduced-motion settings. It is a notice, not a marketing trap.

What happens when there is nothing to announce?

Nothing renders. An empty or expired announcement leaves no gap, no border and no placeholder on the page, so the embed can live in the template permanently.
