Connect Foldout to Claude or ChatGPT
Let your AI assistant look after your widgets. Ask it to update tonight’s specials, add an event or change your opening hours for a bank holiday, and it does it in your Foldout account, with the same access you have.
- You need a Foldout login with access to at least one venue.
- You choose what the assistant may do when you connect. View-only is fine.
- It works on Claude and ChatGPT, on the web, desktop and mobile apps.

- 1In Claude, open Settings → Connectors.
- 2Choose Add custom connector.
- 3Name it “Foldout”, enter the server address below, then choose Add.
- 4Choose Connect. Sign in to Foldout if asked, check the permissions and choose Allow.
- 5In a chat, open the tools menu and make sure Foldout is switched on.
On Team and Enterprise plans an owner may need to add the connector for the organisation first.
ChatGPT

- 1In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- 2Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create.
- 3Name it “Foldout”, enter the server address below and choose OAuth for authentication.
- 4Choose Create, then sign in to Foldout and choose Allow.
- 5In a chat, choose Developer mode from the tools menu and select Foldout.
On Business and Enterprise workspaces an admin may need to allow developer mode first.
You choose what it may do
Foldout’s approval screen lists three permissions. Viewing is always on; untick editing or publishing if you’d rather it only looked. Your assistant should ask you before it publishes anything.
View widgets
List your venues and widgets, and read any widget's content, version history and embed code.
Edit drafts
Create widgets within your plan's limits, rename them and save drafts. A draft never changes your website.
Publish
Publish, pause, resume or put back an earlier version. These change your live website within about a minute.
What it can do
- Update tonight's specials, add an event or change bank holiday opening hours
- Check which widgets have changes that aren't live yet
- Show what changed between versions, and put an earlier one back
- Create a widget and hand you the embed code
What it can’t do
- Delete or archive widgets
- Change billing, your plan, your team or account settings
- Upload PDF menus or images (do that in the dashboard)
- Touch loyalty programmes or read form enquiries
- See anything your own login can't
Switch it off any time
- In Foldout: Settings → Connected AI assistants → Disconnect. Access stops straight away, whatever the AI app shows.
- In Claude: Settings → Connectors → Foldout → Disconnect.
- In ChatGPT: Settings → Apps & Connectors → Foldout → Disconnect, or delete it.
What the assistant sees
Your assistant only reaches Foldout when you ask it to, and only with the permissions you approved. Foldout sends it the widget content it asks for: the same content you see in your dashboard, including the addresses enquiry forms send to.
Everything it changes is recorded in your activity log and version history with the app’s name. What the AI app does with that content is covered by its own privacy policy. Ours is at foldout.link/privacy.
