Specials board questions

How do I put daily specials on my restaurant website?

Paste Foldout's two-line embed where the board should appear, then update the board from the dashboard: type the dishes, upload images, or photograph the chalkboard. The website carries whatever you last published, and updating it is a job for a phone, not a website editor.

Can I just photograph the chalkboard?

Yes. If the handwritten board is the charm, photograph it and publish the photo. When you would rather have text guests can search and zoom, retype the dishes instead. The widget does either, and you can change your mind daily.

Who updates it day to day?

Whoever writes the board. It is a dashboard edit that works from a phone, so the chef or the bar manager publishes the day's dishes without touching the website, and without waiting for whoever holds the CMS login.

What happens when there are no specials today?

Publish an empty board or pause the widget, and the section simply does not render on the page. A paused widget never leaves a broken gap in the layout.

Is this the same as the menu widget?

No, they are companions. The menu widget holds the structured, standing menu read from your menu file. The specials board is the fast-moving layer on top: today's dishes, the guest ale, the soup. Most venues run both.
