Reviews widget questions
How do I show Google or TripAdvisor reviews on my website?
Paste the review's URL into the dashboard and Foldout fills in the quote, author, rating and date for you to check. Publish the ones you want and they render on your site as a quote wall, a spotlight or a strip, each credited to its source with a link.
Can I edit a review before it goes up?
No, and you would not want to. An edited quote is a fabrication, and review platforms' display terms forbid it. You choose which reviews appear; the words themselves stay exactly as the guest wrote them, with their source shown.
Will review stars show up next to my site in Google results?
No, and be wary of any widget promising it. Google does not show star snippets for reviews a business displays about itself, and marking them up that way risks a manual penalty against the whole site. Foldout deliberately publishes no review markup, which keeps your hours, menu and event rich results safe.
Can I show quotes that have no star rating?
Yes. A line from the visitors' book or an email renders as a quote with its attribution and no stars. The widget never invents a rating that was not given.
Do the reviews update automatically?
The widget shows the set you curated, and importing a new review is one pasted URL. A synced feed from Google Business Profile is built and waiting on Google's API approval; when it arrives, synced reviews will join the same curated flow.
